Both blending and juicing have their own pros and cons when it comes to optimizing your health. Watch the video to see the results of blending 5 lbs of carrots compared with juicing 5 lbs of carrots. We'll also give you for advice on when it's better to blend or when it's best to juice.
Pros of Blending
- Blending makes it easy to consume a variety of fruits and vegetables because once blended, no chewing is necessary.
- Blending is fast. You can blend a smoothie in less than a minute.
- Blending retains fibers in the smoothie. For people with a healthy GI (gastrointestinal) tract, this extra fiber slows down the speed that sugar gets absorbed by the bloodstream, and gives you that full feeling in your stomach and helps relieve constipation.
Cons of Blending
- Insoluble fiber has no nutrient value, and the body has to work hard to get rid of it. This is not ideal for people with weak gastrointestinal tracts.
- In the blended form, the body can only absorb a small portion of nutrients. You need to take in more volume of food to acquire the same amount of nutrients that you can with juices.
- Because conventional blending creates a lot of air pockets, which speeds up the oxidation of blended fruits and vegetables, it needs to be consumed right away and cannot be stored or made in advance. However, vacuum blending with the Dynapro can help you enjoy increased flavor profiles, improved texture, enhanced shelf life, and optimal nutrition for your high-speed blends.
- When a carrot is eaten raw, our body can only extract a very little amount of beta-carotene due to the carrots' thick fibers, but juicing lets you extract a lot more. How? Juicers like the Greenstar Elite effectively breaks down the plants' cell walls and separates indigestible fiber from the nutrient-packed liquid. You're only left with nutritional juice, which allows you to take in more nutrients.
- When you drink fresh juices, the nutrients are quickly absorbed in the blood and you instantly feel energized from it.
- People can get massive amounts of nutrients from a variety of fruits and vegetables in one glass of juice, such as phytochemicals which protect cells from damage, without the stress that comes from digesting. This is beneficial to people who are sick or have a weekend digestive system and are in need of high amounts of nutrients to heal.
- By drinking fresh juices every day, the body will have more energy and nutrients to heal and detoxify itself, fight against diseases, and build up a stronger immune system.
- Juicing takes up more time and effort because the produce needs to be cut into smaller sizes and be fed one by one through the feeding chute.
- It can take longer to clean because there may be more parts to clean.
Pros of Juicing
Cons of Juicing
Both blending and juicing have their pros and cons.
Try experimenting different methods of incorporating more fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet until you find the one that's right for you. A good rule of thumb is to blend your fruits and drink your vegetables for extra boost of nutrients. Cheers!
