Smoothies are a great way to power up your nutrition and develop strength using the very best mother nature has to offer. Vacuum blending can take your smoothies to the next level by offering an additional level of protection for the valuable antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that can sometimes be diminished during the blending process due to oxidation.
Benefits of Vacuum Blending
Vacuum blends feature a higher level of nutrients, plus they offer a creamier texture since they are missing all the air pockets that develop during traditional high speed blending! Retaining color and boosting shelf life, this new technology is a perfect fit for health enthusiasts.
Building Your Smoothie
Not sure what to get started with for your next smoothie meal in a cup? Smoothies can be as unique and individual as you are! Here is a great guide for building a smoothie your way from our in-house raw foods chef, Jenny Ross:
1. Pick a great base
Some favorites are bananas, avocado, and zucchini. All 3 are a rich source of fiber and create a “smooth” consistency when blended to add other beneficial ingredients to.
2. Add more
Pick another fruit or vegetable (or 2!) to pair with your base. Some smoothie fanatics swear by banana + blueberries + spinach, while others love avocado + mango + kale. There are so many great options to work with. In total, you’ll want 1½- 2 cups of whole fruits and vegetables to create a 16 oz smoothie.
3. Hydrate with a liquid
To balance out the fiber in your whole foods blend, try coconut water, nut milk, water, or fruit juice to create additional flavor and add an additional burst of nutrition. You’ll need about a half cup of liquid to make blending fresh or frozen produce easier and balance out your mix.
4. Add superfoods
Supersize the energy with superfoods! Consider adding 1-2 Tbsp of your favorite superfoods to enhance your health as you enjoy each sip. For example, 2 Tbsp of hemp seeds will add an additional 14 grams of protein to your smoothie or try 1 tsp of spirulina to add protein and chlorophyll which can work quickly to oxygenate your blood and improve focus.
For the Best Results...
Take these key ingredients and combine them, adding the softest items nearest to the blades. Blend on high for 20-30 seconds until your mix is completely emulsified. Once your mix is rich and creamy, it is ready to enjoy fresh or save for later.
In a vacuum blender like the Dynapro, you can save your smoothies for 3-5 days due to the added shelf life this technology supports. PLUS, you can easily freeze these high energy mixes for a sweet popsicle treat or to add to fresh mixes the following week.
