How to Grow, Make and Store Food, No Matter Where You Live

Home Sweet Home Grown is warmly written, sweetly illustrated, and exhaustively covers everything that you will need for a life of inexpensive, fresh, delicious food. From seed starting to home canning and everything in-between, this book is the perfect guide for new gardeners who want to grow and eat everything from their own gardens. It is a handy reference that covers a myriad of topics.

Growing your own food does not need to be a hassle. You take some soil and seeds, and you make food. It doesn't matter where you live whether it's in New York City or a raised bed in suburbia. Food that you grow tastes a lot better because it wasn't sprayed with pesticides.

Why Grow Your Own Food?

It's Fun
Growing, making, and storing your own food is rewarding and a perfect way to take out the stress in your crazy everyday life. There are studies that just taking 5 minutes with your hand in soil will put you in a better mood and give you a better perspective for the rest of the day.

Rising Food Costs
Food costs are expected to rise, so we almost can't afford to not grow our own food. Simply growing a small raised bed or even a few tomato plants on a balcony can save you and your family a lot of money.

About the Author:
Part food, part agrarian, and all rabble-rouser, Robyn started Grow Indie in 2009 to give people the tools, know-how and moxie to grow their own food. She has lived everywhere from a llama farm in the country to a tiny brownstone in the city, and she has always managed to grow a garden even if it was just a small fire escape tomato plant. Robyn and her friend Colleen Underwood started the Grow Indie Test Garden when they grow and review more than 300 varieties of vegetables. She lives with her partner in crime, Paul David, at their home sweet home in Kutztown, PA.
